At the par-5 ninth, Walker drained a 4-foot birdie effort to move two clear of the field at minus-15. He came right back with a 12-foot birdie putt at the 10th. Walker reeled off seven straight pars from the 11th. After Matsuyama birdied the last to take the lead, Walker 2-putted from the fringe for a closing birdie, which moved him alongside Matsuyama at minus-17. Anytime you can play a round of golf without making a bogey, its big. It was kind of benign in the middle of the back nine and nothing was happening, but I kept hitting good shots, Walker said.
