In other Telus Cup preliminary-round action, the Moncton Wildcats and Saskatoon Contacts skates to a 4-4 tie while the Phenix du College Esther-Blondin edged the Leduc Oil Kings 5-4. Rourke Chartier scored twice for the Contacts, including the game-tying goal with 7:36 remaining in the third period. Branden Scheidl and Jeremy Leblanc also scored for Saskatoon while Rylan Parenteau made 26 saves in his first start of the tournament. Samuel LeBlanc scored two goals for the Wildcats, who blew a 4-1 lead, while Stephen Johnson and Alexandre Jacob scored the others. Saskatoon went 0 for 5 on the power play as Moncton scored once on five chances with the man advantage. Laurent Dauphin scored three times for the Phenix in their 5-4 victory over the Oil Kings. Tristan Tremblay and David Bergeron each scored once and Daniel Audette assisted on all five goals. Cole MacDonald, Kord Pankewicz, Robert Cain and Jarrett Brown each scored for the Oil Kings. With the preliminary round now complete, the Saskatoon Contacts will face the Red Deer Rebels in one semi-final match-up on Saturday and the Leduc Oil Kings will play the Phenix du College Esther-Blondin in the other.
