NEW YORK, N. Destockage Nike Air Max .Y. - Matt Harvey wants to make sure hes on the mound in late October — if the New York Mets get there for the first time since 2006.Coming back from Tommy John surgery, New Yorks ace says he is willing to accept extra days off between starts or even skipping turns in the rotation in order to be available for the post-season.I dont think its going to be easy to skip starts, he said Wednesday in the Mets clubhouse. I dont think any pitcher is going to want to really do that. But to be able to pitch in October is going to be more important.Harvey hasnt pitched in a game since Aug. 24, 2013, and the right-hander is recovering from elbow ligament-replacement surgery that Oct. 22. He pitched off the Citi Field mound while working out in September, reaching 95 mph, and has been throwing on flat ground at the ballpark six days a week. He expects to resume throwing off a mound in mid-December in preparation for reporting to spring training around Feb. 1, several weeks ahead of the teams official workouts. The 25-year-old Harvey doesnt want to be in the position of Washington pitcher Stephen Strasburg, who had Tommy John surgery in September 2010, returned the following September and was unhappy when the Nationals ended his 2012 season after he reached 159 1-3 innings on Sept. 7. Strasburg was forced to watch as Washington was eliminated by St. Louis in a five-game NL Division Series.Realistically, throwing 200 innings in the regular season is probably not likely, but because of the 17-month recovery time I think we can kind of manage things a little bit differently than Strasburg did, Harvey said.New York is contemplating having Harvey take extra days off, calling up pitchers from the minor leagues to have him skip starts or mandating a midseason break. The last thing I would want to do is have to sit on my hands, of not being able to pitch in the post-season. Whatever needs to be done to get us there, Im all for, Harvey said. I think if you were to map out a whole season, youre going to have to figure out some changes throughout the year in order to get to a certain point. If you make 33 starts and seven innings a start, obviously doing the math thats over what Im probably going to throw.Coming off six straight seasons with losing records, New York is counting on Harvey to head a rotation that includes Zack Wheeler and NL Rookie of the Year Jacob DeGrom.Harvey has done extra stretching and yoga but has not yet started throwing his slider. He intends to work out in Newport Beach, California, next month at the training facility of his agent, Scott Boras, and would like to get two or three extra sessions of pitching batting practice before the exhibition schedule starts in March.Boras and Mets general manager Sandy Alderson discussed Harveys rehab last month at the GM meetings in Phoenix. Were going to continue to have dialogue about it and talk to Matt about it and share a lot of physicians opinions on how theyve managed players like Matt, Boras said. The Raptors have to get through the pesky New York Knicks Wednesday at Madison Square Garden and can lock up the third spot in the Eastern Conference with a win or a Chicago loss in Charlotte.ATLANTA - Freddie Freeman had three hits, including a homer, and the Atlanta Braves beat Washington 6-3 on Saturday night to continue their early success against the Nationals. B.J. Upton had two hits, including his first homer, and Dan Uggla drove in two runs with two hits for Atlanta. After winning two of three at Washington in the opening week, the Braves have won the first two games of a weekend home series against their NL East rivals. Braves left-hander Alex Wood (2-1) allowed one run on six hits and three walks in five innings. Craig Kimbrel pitched the ninth for his fifth save. Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman left the game with an apparent right thumb injury. Washington placed Denard Span on the seven-day disabled list with a concussion before the game. Upton, who began the night hitting .135, and Uggla, batting .162, finally got untracked. Justin Upton had three hits, including two doubles, to extend his tear at the plate. Evan Gattis also had three hits. Washington starter Taylor Jordan (0-1) allowed five runs on 10 hits and two walks in five innings. Anthony Rendon hit his second homer leading off the game. Zimmerman was hurt diving back to the bag when he was picked off second base in the fifth. The Nationals provided no immediate update on his status. Span had headaches following a collision on the basepath with Uggla on Friday night. Right fielder Jayson Werth, who left Friday nights game with cramping in his groin, did not start. He had a pinch-hit infield single in the eighth following Sandy Leons run-scoring single. Freemans throwing error on Werths hit left runners at first and third, but Rendons fly to centre ended thee inning. Destockage Air Max 97. . Washingtons makeshift outfield included Bryce Harper in centre, Kevin Frandsen in left and Nate McLouth in right. Nationals manager Matt Williams used his replay challenge in the second inning after McLouth, credited with a sacrifice bunt, was called out at first base. The call by umpire Angel Hernandez stood following a video review. Williams could have used his challenge two innings later when replays indicated first baseman Adam LaRoche snagged a liner by Freeman as Jason Heyward advanced from first to second. LaRoche stepped on the bag for an apparent double play, but the umpires huddled — with Williams standing a few feet away — and ruled the ball hit the ground before the catch was made. McLouth was involved in another questionable call in the fifth when he dropped a flyball hit by Andrelton Simmons. Replays indicated McLouth made the catch and was transferring the ball to his glove when it fell to the ground, but Hernandez ruled it was not a catch. The call left the bases loaded, but Jordan escaped by striking out pinch-hitter Ryan Doumit and Heyward. Right-hander Blake Treinen, called up from Triple-A Syracuse before the game, pitched two scoreless innings in his major league debut. NOTES: The Nationals also recalled OF Steven Souza Jr. and optioned RHP Blake Barrett to Syracuse. ... Gattis tied his career high with three hits. ... Justin Upton is 11 for 19 with three homers in the first five games of the homestand. ... The Nationals were charged with three errors, including two throwing miscues by SS Ian Desmond. ... The series ends Sunday when Atlanta RHP Aaron Harang faces LHP Gio Gonzalez. ' ' '
