Indianapolis, IN (SportsNetwork. Vans Old Skool Outlet .com) - In the second half of the fourth-annual Crossroads Classic, the 21st-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish will clash with the Purdue Boilermakers at Banker Life Fieldhouse. The Crossroads Classic serves to highlight basketball in the state of Indiana and will open on Saturday with the 23rd-ranked Butler Bulldogs taking on the Indiana Hoosiers. Mike Breys Irish have suffered just one defeat on the season, that coming back on Nov. 23 by a single point on the road at Providence (75-74). Since then, Notre Dame has reeled off six straight victories and moved to 10-1 on the year with last weekends 83-63 rout of Florida State in ACC action. Matt Painters Boilermakers are off to a solid start to their season as well. Purdue enters this game with an 8-3 overall mark, although it has split its last four games. The Boilermakers have also been idle for a week after last weekends 81-71 road loss at Vanderbilt. Notre Dame holds a narrow 21-20 series lead thanks to wins in each of the last two meetings with Purdue. The Irish came out on top in Indianapolis two years ago, 81-68. Purdue fell behind by 11 points at the half and just couldnt do enough over the final 20 minutes to prevent Vanderbilt from earning a 10-point win. The Boilermakers shot the ball at an efficient rate overall (.473), but Vandy hit nine 3-pointers in the game compared to Purdues three. Raphael Davis led four Boilermakers in double digits with 15 points. Isaac Haas finished with 13, while Kendall Stephens Bryson Scott checked in with 11 and 10 points, respectively, off the bench. Purdue has been solid at the offensive end this season, averaging a strong 76.7 ppg on .470 shooting. The team has also excelled on the glass, outrebounding foes by seven caroms per contest. Stephens isnt starting right now, but still leads the team in scoring at 12.3 ppg. Haas checks in at 11.5 ppg and is followed closely in the scoring column by Vince Edwards and his 10.7 ppg. The Boilermakers will need to stay sharp offensively on Saturday, as Notre Dame has shown plenty of firepower and efficiency at that end of the floor. The Irish are seventh nationally in scoring (84.9 ppg) and lead the nation in field-goal percentage (.557), including .409 from behind the arc. Scoring depth is apparent, as four of the teams five starters are averaging double figures, led by Jerian Grants 18.9 ppg. Grant has picked up where he left off after missing most of last season and is also the teams top facilitator, dishing out 6.0 apg. Zach Auguste can fill up the basket as well at 15.2 ppg, followed by Demetrius Jackson and Pat Connaughton with 13.3 and 12.7 ppg, respectively. Notre Dames 83 points against Florida State represented the teams most in an ACC contest since joining the league. The Irish were able to convert 51.7 percent from the floor and dominated down low with 46 points in the paint. Auguste was 11-of-15 from the floor and finished with a game-high 26 points. Grant and Jackson had big games as well, netting 18 points apiece. Vans Old Skool Outlet Italia . At a news conference Tuesday where it was thought that the fiery Schallibaum may be shown the door after a dismal finish to the Major League Soccer season, team president Joey Saputo said no decision has been made on whether the Swiss Volcano will be back in 2014. Kenny Miller scored from the penalty spot and Camilo Sanvezzo came off the bench to add two late goals as the Whitecaps kept their playoff hopes alive with a 3-0 victory over the sagging Impact on Saturday afternoon. http://www.oldskooloutlet.it/ . Phoenix got injured centre Emeka Okafor and a top-12-protected first-round draft pick in 2014 -- giving the rebuilding Suns potentially four choices in the opening round. The Suns also sent guards Kendall Marshall, Shannon Brown and Malcolm Lee to Washington so the deal will work financially.Professional Footballers Association chief executive Gordon Taylor is disappointed with Jose Mourinhos public criticism of Manchester United players he claims lack bravery. Mourinho issued a warning to his United squad after the 3-1 win over Swansea on Sunday that he only wants players who are willing to put their bodies on the line in his dressing room. Watch NOW TV Watch Sky Sports for only £6.99. No contract. Although not naming any player directly, Mourinho had earlier revealed England internationals Chris Smalling and Luke Shaw had made themselves unavailable for the Swansea game through injury, leading to interim national manager Gareth Southgate coming out in support of them. Southgate left both out of his squad for the World Cup Qualifier against Scotland and the friendly with Spain, saying there was obviously something wrong with them. And Taylor, speaking at the VSI Sporting Directors governance dinner, told Sky Sports News HQ: I was disappointed by that because, knowing the individuals, they are both highly thought of.Theyve got personal problems which I dont need to relay, but sometimes a manager needs to be a psychologist as well, and also to be a counsellor because you cant treat everybody in the team [the same], every manager must know that. Every player in a team is different. Mourinho said some of his squad members lacked bravery When you see what happened with Welsh football and Gary Speed, that brings it home to you that somebody can look on top of the world, with no problems, but [in reality] its quite different and thats why we have a 24-hour counselling service. We get some 200 calls a year to those lines because a player could be out of the team, he could be injured. Its a short-term career and were all human beings. Swansea 1-3 Manchester Utd I think thats what management these days has to be. Old Skool Outlet Italia. . Im not talking about being soft, Im talking about being understanding because to even get to the top in football you have got to succeed as not so many actually make it in the game. Like Steve Coppell said turtles come ashore to lay hundreds of eggs because they know very few get back. Luke Shaw and Chris Smalling both missed Uniteds clash with Swansea City on Sunday Those that do make it have a great resolve and resilience. Those days are gone when we had no substitutes and you were on the wing with a broken leg and still trying to carry on.Surely weve come beyond that and thats why its important if anyone has a head injury or possible concussion they have to come out of the game. Weve seen in other sports - rugby and cricket and just recently horse racing, the tragedy of a very serious injury to a jockey who is now paralysed from the waist down.Sport is good and it brings people together but there is another side of it which can be quite dangerous and thats why the people running the game have to be careful with health and safety, and psychological understanding.
